Teijin Aramid joins the EU Critical Chemicals Alliance

Teijin Aramid has been accepted as a member of the EU Critical Chemicals Alliance, a European initiative established under the Chemical Industry Action Plan and linked to the Clean Industrial Deal. The Alliance brings together industry, Member States, regions, and other stakeholders to support a competitive and sustainable European chemical sector. 

Strengthening a critical European industry 

The European chemical industry is a key enabler for manufacturing value chains across nearly all sectors. At the same time, it faces structural challenges such as high energy costs, ageing production assets, increasing global competition, and the need to accelerate decarbonization. These pressures have led to concerns about production capacity closures and the resilience of critical chemical supplies within Europe. 

The Critical Chemicals Alliance was created to address these challenges through coordinated action at EU level. Its focus lies on safeguarding critical production capacity, supporting the roll out of low carbon and circular solutions, and addressing trade related challenges to help ensure fair competition.
