Industry value
Designed to perform and built to endure
For ship owners and captains, durability defines value. Twaron® and Technora® fibers extend the working life of mooring lines by resisting heat, fatigue, and creep. Supported by our decades of offshore experience, these fibers provide a proven path to safer, longer-lasting, and more sustainable mooring systems.
Our solutions
Reliable aramid solutions for critical marine conditions
Mooring systems on large vessels operate under higher loads, repeated tension cycles, and elevated deck temperatures. In these conditions, conventional synthetics such as HMPE can lose strength. These effects influence line length, load sharing, and the consistency of vessel handling during berthing and departure.
Twaron® and Technora® provide a stable alternative. Their thermal resistance helps retain tensile strength and stiffness in deck environments that reach 80°C and above. Low creep supports predictable line geometry across thousands of load cycles, which is important for balanced tension in LNG and tanker operations. The bending fatigue resistance of the fibers also enhances the line’s performance under cyclic loading, reducing the likelihood of snap-back events.
Twaron® and Technora® maintain mechanical integrity over long service intervals in both offshore and port conditions. This supports consistent handling performance, clearer maintenance planning, and a lower probability of line-related incidents. The resulting stability contributes to more predictable operational costs and improved mooring reliability for ship owners and operators.
Product value
Proven fiber strength under load and heat
Our aramid fibers combine strength retention and dimensional stability at temperatures where HMPE deforms. Twaron® and Technora® reduce fatigue and creep across repeated load cycles, ensuring predictable tension and safe line recovery. Their low weight simplifies handling, while end-of-life recyclability supports sustainable fleet management. Each line performs reliably across hot, high-load, and long-duration mooring operations.
Sustainability
Reducing waste through lasting performance
Twaron® and Technora® fibers extend the service life of mooring lines, reducing replacements and waste. At the end of life, Twaron®-reinforced ropes can be mechanically recycled and repurposed for other industries. This combination of durability and recoverability helps ship owners lower both environmental impact and total operating cost.
Our expertise
Our research and development streams
Trusted development partner
We combine deep material knowledge with decades of experience in rope and cable applications. Our technical account managers work closely with manufacturers to identify and apply the most suitable Twaron® and Technora® solutions. Drawing on verified field data, we support partners through every stage of development, from material selection to integration and validation.
Application-specific insight
Our Research and Innovation Center in the Netherlands performs extensive testing under realistic maritime conditions, including temperature, humidity, UV exposure, and seawater contact. The resulting database supports accurate lifetime predictions and ensures consistent performance for both static and dynamic mooring systems.
Certified performance
Twaron® and Technora® fibers are certified for maritime use by independent third parties and validated against industry standards such as MEG4 and OCIMF. These certifications confirm that our materials meet the highest safety and reliability requirements for marine operations.
Collaborative technical support
Our technical specialists work proactively with customers to optimize performance, solve design challenges, and prepare for certification. This structured, data-driven approach ensures every aramid-based mooring solution is developed, tested, and supported to the same high standard worldwide.
