ISCC PLUS Certification Achieved for Twaron®
In July 2025, we received ISCC PLUS certification for our Twaron® production processes. This confirms that we meet international sustainability standards for sourcing alternative feedstocks and supports our customers in choosing traceable, lower-impact materials.
Certified feedstocks for a more sustainable value chain
ISCC PLUS is a globally recognized certification system that verifies the sustainability and traceability of alternative feedstocks. For us, this means our materials made with bio-based or circular inputs can now carry third-party verified claims. For our customers, it offers transparency and confidence that we are meeting defined environmental standards throughout the value chain.
The certification applies to our use of the mass balance approach, which allows conventional and certified materials to be used in the same production process. What matters is that every input and output is accurately documented and audited. This gives us the flexibility to introduce more sustainable content while maintaining the high performance our customers expect from Twaron®.
A milestone in our sustainability roadmap
This certification builds on steps we have already taken to reduce the impact of our operations. Since 2014, we have lowered the carbon footprint of Twaron® by 28%. All of our production in the Netherlands now runs on 100% renewable electricity. These achievements are part of our broader goal to become the most sustainable aramid producer in the world.
ISCC PLUS certification adds an extra layer of assurance to our sustainability approach. It confirms that we are not only improving how we produce but also how we source our materials. As sustainability requirements increase across industries, we want to ensure our customers have access to materials that help them meet their own goals.
Working toward circularity
In addition to improving input streams, we are also exploring the next stage in material circularity. Together with several European partners, we are investigating how end-of-life aramid materials can be recovered and reused in new industrial applications. While this work is still in early stages, we see it as an important part of building a more circular ecosystem around Twaron®.
“Our customers are looking for measurable, verifiable progress when it comes to sustainability. This certification helps us provide that clarity. It supports our partners with transparent, lower-impact material options that continue to deliver reliable performance”
