The Twaron® eco-datasheet provides the first overview of the environmental profile of an aramid product. The eco-datasheet gives fact-based information on the carbon footprint and recyclability of Twaron®. Paired with the company’s Customer Benefit Model, the new eco-datasheet offer detailed insight into how Twaron® acts as a key sustainability multiplier for industries such as automotive, industrial workwear and fiber-optic communications.
Showing the way forward for the aramid industry
The launch of the eco-datasheet is a key sustainability milestone for both the organization and the aramid industry as it shows the way forward on issues like sustainability, transparency and measurable impact. Teijin Aramids mission of enhancing the quality of life – in harmony with society – empowering our people stands at the heart of the company’s latest efforts to map the environmental impact of its products and includes several other data-driven tools available to partners. Customers and other value chain partners can download the eco-datasheet of Twaron® as part of the product information.
Knowledge fuels progress
At Teijin Aramid, we believe that the aramid industry’s journey toward a fully sustainable, circular aramid must involve open communication about the environmental impact of products and services. Armed with the information in the eco-datasheets and our independently certified Customer Benefit Model, our customers and end users can better understand and quantify the impact of using Twaron®.
Cross-industry sustainability benefits
And with that knowledge comes responsibility. We are committed to improving the environmental impact of our solutions – and the solutions of our customers. In 2019 we helped prevent more than 215,000 tons of CO2 emissions through the use of Twaron® in tires and conveyor belts. In particular, our aramid helps make these applications lighter and more durable, minimizing resource and energy usage. We also support ‘closing the loop’: for over 20 years, we have pioneered the recycling of aramid-based, end-of-life products.
Looking forward, aiming higher
Peter ter Horst, CEO Teijin Aramid: “Launching the eco-datasheet underlines our commitment to remaining the most sustainable company in the aramid industry. Moving forward, we will continue to decarbonize our energy consumption, close our internal loops, and drive our sustainability and circularity initiatives together with our partners and customers. Communicating clearly on the impact of our products and services, as demonstrated by the new eco-datasheet, will drive our accountability, provide customers with clear insights, and – ultimately – help us shape a better world for future generations.”
