Recycle today for a better tomorrow
What makes Twaron® unique is that, in contrast to HMPE for instance, Twaron® is 100% recyclable. For over 20 years we’ve been recycling Twaron® at our Arnhem facility. Parallel to this, we are also exploring new methods of recycling and separating our aramids from other more complex materials. For these next steps, it’s crucial that we connect with partners in the value chain. Do you have an aramid-based solution that you’d like to see recycled?
Aramid Take back- A step towards Circularity

Recycling waste streams
We aim to make our raw material consumption as efficient as possible with the goal of carbon neutral. Aligning with the Dutch Climate Agreement, we also pledge to reduce our energy consumption at our Netherlands-based Twaron® and Endumax® production plants. Reusing and recycling our production waste streams, including water and heat flows, plays a vital role in this approach.
How new technology is closing the chain
Emerging technologies can bring us closer to a fully circular aramid chain. Together with several new partners BioBTX and participation in InRep, we are exploring new methods to recycle or separate our aramids from other materials at the end-of-life stage, so they can be reused in new products. These initiatives will drive the recovery of aramids from different intermediate and end products, including ballistic products, mooring lines, and protective apparel.Read more
Rejuvenating used Teijinconex® with Purfi
To become circular, recycled aramid fibers should have no change in properties when compared to virgin fibers. This is why we are always looking for new partners to help us improve the performance of recycled fibers. Purfi is one such partner with whom we collaborated to improve the performance of recycled Teijinconex®. Purfi’s rejuvenation technology breathes new life into used Teijinconex ®, restoring it to virgin fiber quality.Read More
