Ballistic Performance Under Mechanical Stress

V50 testing tells you where an armor system starts to fail. It does not tell you how reliably it protects across real impact velocities, or how that reliability changes after conditioning. This paper presents the regression models, confidence boundary evaluations, and full conditioning datasets armor designers need to answer both questions.

After reading the paper you will have:

  • The full logistic regression models and confidence interval calculations behind S-curve analysis, so you can assess the statistical rigor of the findings and apply the methodology to your own test data.
  • Complete conditioning datasets for Twaron® CT612LS woven fabric, Twaron® UD, UHMWPE UD1, and UHMWPE UD2, showing V05, V50, ZMR, and curve shape before and after NIJ 0101.06 tumble conditioning.
  • A documented analytical approach for evaluating armor system reliability beyond V50, grounded in data presented at PASS 2023.
