Customs and Foreign Trade Officer

The Supply Chain Management department is subdivided into Purchasing and Logistics. Among other things, the Logistics department is responsible for production planning, formulating and monitoring the logistic performance indicators and providing the finishing activities for threads and fibers (converting). In addition to our own production facilities, the department also collaborates with external parties.

In connection with an expansion of work activities, we are looking for a Customs and Foreign Trade Officer (m/f).

For this job in Arnhem, you will report to the Logistics Manager.

The job

  • translate all relevant legislation on the input, throughput and output of goods into policy and procedures within Teijin Aramid
  • ensure compliance with these procedures and, if necessary intervene to prevent irregularities
  • anticipate changes in legislation and influence this legislation at the competent institutions, where possible
  • monitor Teijin Aramid’s terms and conditions of business and trade barriers (trade policy)
  • based on expected import and export prognoses and expected flow of goods, estimate cost advantages for the import and export of goods
  • keep manuals and instructions up-to-date and accessible for the import and export of goods
  • take care of the legal reports to Statistics Netherlands (CBS), Business Software Alliance (BSA), the Chamber of Commerce and Customs and serve as the external contact person within Teijin Aramid for the Chamber of Commerce, Statistics Netherlands (CBS), Customs, the Central Department for Import and Export (CDIU), the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Agency for International Business and Cooperation, Statec and distribution warehouses
  • based on reports, identify structural bottlenecks and formulate potential solutions for the import and export of goods and provide the proper implementation of these potential solutions
  • function-based control of a Customs employee

Your profile
Do you have a degree in higher professional education (preferably in logistics), supplemented with customs specialist training? And besides that, do you also have:

  • at least 5 years relevant work experience in a multinational or trading company (concerned with textile products)
  • knowledge in relevant legislation and regulations for the import and export of goods and services and clearing and shipping guidelines
  • good verbal and written communication skills in Dutch, English and German
  • skills to set up and maintain a network and you have persuasive powers
  • a proactive and result-oriented disposition and are able to work independently
