My name is Mirjam Oldenzeel, and I am responsible for the long-term technological developments, product development and process development in Emmen and I am a member of the local Management Team. I am also responsible for Quality, Health, Safety & Environment and I manage a team of technologists and QHSE specialists and the production laboratory. A very broad, but therefore enjoyable, challenging position!

After studying Chemical Technology in Enschede, I started in 1988 in fundamental research in Arnhem, where I also received my Ph.D. From this foundation I have increasingly focused on the application-oriented side of research. I have also had regular contact with customers. As part of my present job, I am also on various sales teams. In this role, I offer my sales colleagues in Arnhem and Wuppertal production support in developing new, improved products, focused on optimal service to the customer.

It is nice to cooperate with other disciplines in this way; you see that everyone is working toward the same goal from his or her own specialty. Cooperation is the key to success for everything. Increasingly focusing on improvement, development and growth. I also have that in me and I believe it is very important in my work. At Teijin Aramid, I can combine the two: work on technological innovations that are important for customers and translate them into our production processes and quality systems.

At Teijin Aramid, I am particularly part of a no-nonsense culture. It makes no difference that I happen to be a woman, even though relatively few women work here in Emmen. I believe that women enhance a company like Teijin Aramid by providing an extra dimension that promotes cooperation.

I am proud of every success we achieve, both large and small. It can be a successful technological development, but I have the very same pride when I see an employee advance through coaching. We can all be ourselves and develop ourselves here, and that is something I like. For me, Teijin Aramid is an excellent company to work for. People who work here have ambition, like to improve things and see opportunities. I am happy to work along with this; these are the people we can use. As far as I’m concerned, Teijin Aramid is the best aramid company in the world, made possible through close cooperation!
