Development gas purification technology for Twaron’s monomers plants

The research organization of Teijin Aramid in Arnhem employs about 150 people. Research is carried out to improve existing products and processes and to search for new technologies.

For the department of Monomers & Polymers Teijin Aramid is looking for students who wish to do a: Development gas purification technology for Twaron’s monomers plants

The department
The department Monomers & Polymers in Arnhem performs research for the monomer/polymer production plants, which are located in Delfzijl. The monomers are the raw materials for making polymer from which Twaron® fiber is manufactured. Various topics are continuously available for a traineeship and/or graduation assignment.

The assignment
The research subject is related to the development and optimization of the monomer terephthaloyl-dichloride production process in Delfzijl. The internship focusses on the optimization of a new process for removal of organic components from a gas stream. The objective is to study the feasibility in a lab-scale setup, and investigate the effects of operating conditions on the recovery of the organic components. A first design for industrial scale operation has to be made based on these experiments and model calculations. The definitive subject of the assignment will be decided in consultation with the trainee.

The profile
Students at HBO (University of Professional Education) and Universities studying chemical engineering, or chemical technology may apply.
