Teijin Aramid sells Twaron according to a variety of specifications for a variety of applications. In order to continue to do this, and because we produce for a number of chemical substances more than 1,000 tons per year, we had to register those substances before December 1, 2010. That is a requirement of the European REACH legislation. REACH stands for the Registration, Evaluation, and Authorisation of Chemicals. We have registered the monomers paraphenylene diamine (PPD) and terephthaloyl dichloride (TDC). We also registered the by-products orthophenylene diamine (OPD) and hydrochloric acid (HCl) and the solvent sulfuric acid (H2SO4). For more information regarding our REACH activities see the Sustainability report.
